Location
This photo was taken at the Denver Butterfly Pavilion. It was just a nice stroll through with my family and of course my camera.Time
This was taken in the middle of the afternoon. I remember there were butterflies all over the place, but trying to get close enough and to have one stay still long enough for a good picture was a challenge.Lighting
The glass roof of the butterfly pavilion gave off a nice diffused light in the bright afternoon sun, it was really just line up the shot and shoot.Equipment
I used a Sony A350 camera with a Cosina 70-210mm lens to take this shot. Since I was with my kids I was not carrying my tripod, and I did not need a flash for this shot.Inspiration
Being surrounded by butterflies of all shapes and colors was inspiring, I was just trying to capture the beauty of the surroundings.Editing
I often edit my photos using Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop. This photo however was left just as it was shot because I didn't think that I could do anything to it to improve the photo. I was just very happy with how it came out.In my camera bag
I am truly just a beginning hobbyist photographer. All that I carry in my bag with me is my Sony A350 body. As far as lenses are concerned I just have a Sony 18-70mm and a Cosina 70-210mm that I have to manual focus because the auto focus is broken. I sometimes carry a tripod with me, but because a lot of my photography is done on hikes with my children I rarely use it.Feedback
All I can say is be patient. I found this plant that I really liked the look of and after that it was just be very still and hope that a butterfly decided to land on it. Also be ready to take the shot, I had all the camera settings ready so all I had to do was take it.
