A very impressive shot. This is one I'd be proud to have taken. Beautiful clarity in the damselfly.

Your depth of field is tiny, but your focus is crisp. This is a technically skilled image with a wonderful sense of humor. Adorable.

Every time I see this I smile. Congratulations on nailing this image. It is my idea of perfection.

Location
I photographed this damselfly in Berchem in the paddenbroek. It is a small nature reserve in the Flemish Ardennes.Time
On a sunny afternoon.Lighting
Some damselflies were mating. Suddenly, I saw this little creature sitting on a leaf, sunbathing. I slowly tried to get closer.Equipment
With my 200 mm macro lens, mounted on a tripod with macro slide, I could get even closer. After 3 photos it was gone.Inspiration
When I got home, I checked whether the eyes were sharp. I usually take photos with a very shallow depth of field. This increases the eye contact. I also try to depict the subject in its natural environment.Editing
In post-processing, the photo is aligned and sharpened. In my camera bag
I mostly use a 200 mm macro lens on a Nikkon D700. I try to take as little material as possible with meFeedback
To ensure stability I always use a tripod. In the beginning, this is hard work but you get used to. As It is slower, you have time to think about the composition. When I have found an interesting subject, I try all kinds of different positions. I also constantly change the aperture.
