I captured this shot while walking on the Cutten brothers track going from Bingil Bay to Mission Beach in Nth QLD.Time
It was about midday or early afternoonLighting
What mostly drew me to that flower was how the light was coming through the rainforest, and i noticed this little unassuming flower hanging out on its own from a vine and the light was shining right on it. It immediately captured my attention as a photo opportunity.Equipment
It was a kodak z650, just one of my very early digital camera's. I remember leaning over a bit, zooming in on the flower trying to fill the frame, then I just did the whole point and shoot thing..Inspiration
Definitely, it was the way the light was coming through the rainforest during the day, it created these dark patches and depending on where the light got through it highlighted different parts.Editing
No, just the raw image taken straight from my camera..In my camera bag
I try to have some sort of camera on me most of the time.. (which for me at the moment is just my mobile...)Feedback
Try and use natural light where you can. Definitely patience is necessary as sometimes you have to wait for the conditions to be right, and other times the shot can just jump out at you like this one did for me. I think that planning is also good, or at least thinking about the outcome before you take the shot i.e filling the frame, details of foreground and background, clarity and amount of content and how it works with each other, camera settings and obviously light or lighting. Also, try to be aware of the conditions, i.e. look at the difference between a shot taken where the the light is either behind or infront of the subject matter, and i guess try and be as creative as you can with your photography.
