Location
This photo was taken on a trail leading from the Chateau Lake Louise down to Lake Louise itself, in Lake Louise, Alberta, Canada.Time
It was taken around 9PM, once it was nice and dark and the stars were outLighting
the lighting is all natural. I wanted to leave it alone to get the reflections of the light off of the snow.Equipment
I used a Canon 7D on a tripod with a 10-22 EFs lens. It's my usual night time set upInspiration
I was taking night shots of the lake and mount Victoria. I didn't even notice this until I was heading back to my car. Initially I took a quick hand held shot. I really liked the look of the snow. It looked like little stars on earth, with the stars in the sky as a back drop. So i set up my tripod, and ended up with one of my favorite shots ever.Editing
this photo has very little editing. I took it a long time ago, before I knew much about Photoshop! I could go back and re edit it, but I'm very happy with it, and think a lot of editing would distance me from the memory of this particular shot.In my camera bag
Canon 5DMKIII, 24-70 F2.8, 70-200 F2,8 ISII, 100mm F2.8 Macro, tripod, flash, and a few filtersFeedback
If you have a particular shot or location in mind, don't forget to look around you. I had only planned on shooting the lake on this evening. Turns out the best shot I got was on the walk back to the car, after thinking I was done. Try to get different perspectives as well. This image stands out in my mind because of the low angle. It would have lacked in something had a stood up and distanced the camera from the trail. I'm by no means a professional critic, if you have any advice or opinions on this shot I would love to hear them!
