What can I say about the lighting. I got there before Dark to set up and I watched a bank of low clouds roll in. I was initially annoyed by this, thinking it would ruin the mood of the photo. However, the darker it got the prettier the scene became. Eventually everything turned gold and everyone there taking photographs was commenting on how pretty it was. I hated to leave. I have been there a few times since then and I have never seen lighting quite like this. I guess it was just a case of being in the right place at the right time.Equipment
I had an old tripod which I was not a big fan of but it did the job here. A canon 5d Mark ii and the Canon 5d Mark ii.Inspiration
I set up before dark for to get this photo so I could get the camera leveled up using the dots in the view finder. Pretty hard to do that in total darkness. It wasn't cloudy when I got there, they rolled in as it got dark. First every turned a champagne color then pure gold. As a person that enjoys photography, this is something that you wish for. Unique and beautiful lighting conditions. The clouds were low enough so the light from the buildings bounced back and turned everything this gorgeous gold color. I had gone here twice previously and nothing compared to this lighting.Editing
I used color curves, Topaz Adjust and High pass filter. In my camera bag
Not much believe it or not. Batteries for the camera and flash as well as a cloth and lens pen.Feedback
It took me three visits to get this image. I learned a cloudy sky can be a good thing for taking an image of a skyline. I would however have liked to have used a longer lens than I did to capture this, I just didn't have anything worthy other than the one I used which was the 16-35mm. I would have liked to have gotten a little closer. However, this image was all about the lighting. I will go back again in the future keeping in mind what I learned with this image.
