very well done - great rhythm in this image - the rows of colors add emphasis to the rhythmic tone - great work

Location
This shot was taken at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu, California.Time
I took this shot in late afternoon after eating at a nearby cafe. The light was hitting the umbrellas just right and so I snapped off a pic as quick as I could.Lighting
I'm always a fan of natural light but obviously you have to get the shot at exactly the right time for it to be great. In this case, I was fortunate enough to have seen the umbrellas at just the right time.Equipment
"Umbrella Awning" was actually photographed using my cell phone, not my SLR. It tends to annoy photographers who invest a lot of time and money into their cameras and gear, but the reality is that cell phone cameras have come a long way and can take pretty great shots these days. Since we always have them on hand and don't always have our traditional camera with us, sometimes we get the best shots with them, simply by necessity. That was the case here.Inspiration
I rarely overthink my photography choices. If something is interesting or beautiful or ugly or in any way grabs my attention, I snap it up.Editing
I did not do any post-processing on this picture. In this case, the colors were bold enough in reality so there was nothing a filter or post effect was going to do to make it any more magical. In my camera bag
I usually go pretty bare bones, with my Nikon camera, a 50mm lens, and a zoom, which is all I need. Of course, I often don't have it with me when I see something worth photographing, which is why cell phone cameras are so great to have around.Feedback
My advice for capturing something like this is to just keep your eyes open. This picture isn't the result of great effort in terms of gear or composition or lighting. It was the result of keeping my eyes open and spotting something worth capturing.
