Behind The Lens

Location

I am a self taught photographer and was visiting the native land of my Gg grandparents. I was looking for one branch of our family tree, the Connelly's, who are from County Mayo, Republic of Ireland. I was driving along and this is what I saw. My four camera batteries were dead so I so I took this shot with my phone because it was just too stunning not too. The light within the mountains coupled with the clouds were nothing short of spectacular. I stood there for an untold amount of time just taking in the view; it felt as if Ireland was putting on a show just for me in that moment.

Time

This was taken about 3:30 in the afternoon. I pulled the car over to take the shot with my mouth hanging open at the sight before me. I only wish I had not allowed my camera batteries to go dead taking so many pictures.

Lighting

The lighting was amazing and it was captured with my phone. For me, this picture is emblematic of Ireland itself; majestic stunning beauty yet completely tranquil with unspoiled views.

Equipment

I used my Iphone 5!

Inspiration

The majesty of Ireland. I was looking for the area where one of my great great grandparents was from (the others are from County Clare, Republic of Ireland) and was just driving down the road and this is what I saw.

Editing

Because this was taken with my phone, there really was no opportunity to do much processing other than to lower the exposure slightly.

In my camera bag

I now use a Sony ICLE-7m3. I have a variety of lenses but my favorite is my 70-300 G lens.

Feedback

Just be aware of your surroundings because you never know what you might encounter (and do not let your camera batteries go dead). But even if you do not have a Dslr camera, you can still take amazing pictures with your phone in a pinch.
