Location
This is Adams Falls in the Rocky Mountain National Park. After entering the Park from the east Entrance outside Estes Park you travel towards the Continental Divide at the Peak of Trailridge Road. About a third of the way up there is a turnout and a walking trail that leads to this amazing sight.Time
My family and I arrived at the trail head at about 3:30 in the afternoon in June of 2013. After a mile to two mile walk we reached the falls. There is a path where you can walk to the top of the falls, which we did. Spent about an hour around the falls and as I was leaving the area, I looked back and realized this was the best view and time of the day. Took two quick shots and here is the bestLighting
All natural lighting, (sunlight and shadows) but the time of day and lighting made the photo. Bright blue sky and sun in the background, some light shadows to provide clarity and contrast as your eyes move toward the frontEquipment
I shoot a simple CoolPix P510....that's it. It was a handheld on closeup settings and the rest of it is all naturalInspiration
One of the prettiest places I have ever visited in my life...The quiet peaceful area with the roar of the rushing waters and natural palette of colors and contrasts....Who could resist capturing it on a cameraEditing
very minimal processing...just a little D-lighting, a slight sharpening adjustment and nothing elseIn my camera bag
Just my Coolpix P510 and I sometimes carry a collapsible Manfroto Monopod if I am shooting sceneryFeedback
One of a kind location but the time of day (for the lighting) is important. A clear day but not high sunshine helps. So location and the natural atmospherics make a difference between picturesque and picture perfect
