This one gets it! A winner. The background of fall colors bring attention to the beautiful wolf. Well done.

It's great to see a picture of a wolf that it isn't snarling or growling, I love the beauty in these animals and I hate it when they are stereotyped, great photo!

Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at a wildlife sanctuary "Out of Africa" in Camp Verde, Arizona. I was able to get the behind the scene access to the animals through a photography shoot that they offer there. I highly recommend it to anyone who happens to be in the area and want to get up close and personal with the animals. It was well worth and and it was a great experience.Time
This was taken in the morning hours of the day just after sunrise at around 7:00 am. If I remember correctly.Lighting
This photo was taken with natural light. The lighting at this time of morning was perfect. The morning was very crisp and cool and the sun was just rising through scattered clouds in the sky creating beautiful natural light. There was just enough light to allow the iso to be set low and no fill flash was needed.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon EOS 7D, 70-300mm lens handheld at 1/250 sec, f/5.0 and ISO 400. No flash was used.Inspiration
I was taking photos of several different wildlife animals. I turned around and saw three beautiful wolfs, 2 white and 1 black. This particular white wolf was standing on the rock getting ready to jump down, therefore the unique pose. I knew I needed to work quickly in order to get this pose with the beautiful colorful shrubbery behind him. Once i captured this in a photo it looks as though he is posing for me even though he was getting ready to jump.Editing
In this particular photo I did very little post processing except for the normal sharpening and a little cropping. I really try not to do to much post processing on my wildlife photos as I like to keep them natural to what I see in real life.In my camera bag
I have 7D Canon EOS which I love for wildlife photography. My Lenses are: EF 70-200mm f/1:2.8L IS II USM a perfect lens for capturing fast moving wildlife. EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 IS USM to get up close and personal. This is the lense I used for this photo. EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM good for portraits. EF 100mm f/1:2.8L IS USM Macro. Great for shooting small insects. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees etc. EF 50mm f/1:1.8, my nifty-fifty, I love for creative work. Other equipment: Tripod - Manfrotto with a ball movement head. Canon Speedlite 430EX ll, for those times when natural light is unavailable, two batteries and an extra SD cards with lots of memory. Oh and a backpack to hold everything.Feedback
With this particular shot I needed to move quickly as to not miss his pose since he was getting ready to jump down from the rock. I find in taking wildlife photos you must know your equipment well so you can change setting quickly as to not miss the shot. I also like to take photos from instinct if you will, because if you wait and think too much about the shot you will miss it. I always shoot in manual mode and use the fastest shutter speed available under the circumstances so I can get a shape photo. I always focus on the eyes so that they come out sharp. The eyes for me are the most important part of the photo so I always try and keep them as sharp as possible. Alway look for interesting poses or gestures from the animals to make a memorable photo. Happy shooting!
