Wow, just stunning. (I hate it when the person before me had the same exact words, but hey, those were the words in my mind before seeing anything). Congratulations.

It may sound funny-but I am nor sure where I was when I took this photo! I had traveled to New Mexico to spend time with a friend and go to the Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Festival. She heard the Colorado fall leaves were at peak color, so decided to drive to Telluride, and spend a few days. She did the driving and I enjoyed just riding along taking in the sights. We drove past this lake, and even though it would mess up our schedule to get to our destination before dark, we just had to stop for some photos. So I really don't know where we were, but I sure was glad we found this beautiful spot on a beautiful day.Time
This was taken in the late afternoon, on a wonderful October day. As my friend and I were driving along and saw this beautiful scene, we just had to stop.Lighting
I was lucky for this image, that the sun was behind me and lit up the scene perfectly. It was late in the afternoon, so I am thinking that was much better than if we had stopped here earlier in the day.Equipment
For this I used my Sony A99II and I was just hand holding.I was so excited when we stopped I just jumped out of the car and did not grab my tripod. For this low to the ground shot, I feel I did OK with out it. I usually have a Tamron 28-300 lens on this camera, as I enjoy the flexibility it gives me with it's wide range.Inspiration
How could I not take this photo? The mountains, the fall colors, the reflections, the clouds, and the lake bed-they just all came together! I was also lucky that we found this particular area of the lake where it was not windy, so we could get some reflections. Before we left the wind was starting to pick up and the reflections were disappearing.Editing
I don't do much post processing. Usually straightening -if needed, maybe some sharpening and contrast a bit.In my camera bag
I always carry a spare camera when traveling, because twice I have fallen and needed to use that spare due to injuries to my primary camera. Besides the 28-300 lens I also carry a Tamron 15-30 for the wide angle shots. I have been very happy with my Sony/Tamron combinations. I also carry a polarizer and a variable neutral density filter, the usual lens wipes, and assorted stuff-like a headlight and a flash light in case I end up staying somewhere until it gets dark out.Feedback
I always say that if you see something amazing, just take the time to stop and shoot it. Don't say "I will come back later" because you may never get those same perfect conditions again. Move around and take your shots from higher, lower, vertical, and then later you will have a number of them to pick from to get a favorite. And always remember to have fun with it!
