The buzzard is a real opportunist, because he eats what he can find. Several small mammals such as mice, rabbits and moles are on the menu. But amphibians, such as frogs, and even reptiles, such as lizards, can also fall prey to the buzzard. Catching small birds is a bit more difficult due to the size and low maneuverability of a flying buzzard. Young or sick specimens can be unlucky enough to end up in its claws. Buzzards are also often seen along motorways, where they feast on the remains of animals that have fallen victim to traffic. But in fields or meadows, the buzzard even goes out on foot, looking for snails and insects.
