Location
This photo was taken at Crabtree Falls Campground, in Nelson County, VA. This is a tent campsite right next to the water!Time
We arrived at night and had to change to an RV site as we were not camping in a tent, but in our truck. We got up the next morning and wanted to see what the tent site looked like, and we’re greeted with a spectacular view as the morning sun rose through the trees.Lighting
It’s all natural, I physically added nothingEquipment
I took this with my iPhone, I believe I had the 10 at that time.Inspiration
The pattern the rays were making seemed to be beckoning me. They were so intriguingEditing
I generally will use a combination of effects on Snapseed to create a “painterly” lookIn my camera bag

If you forget your camera, don’t forget about your phone! When picking a phone I always keep camera specs at the top of my list of needs for that exact reason. If I had gone back to the truck to grab my camera I would have lost this shot. As for the image itself, look for the right amount of leaf cover to lessen the chance of lens flare and dim the brightness. Then, you can lower the exposure a tad if still needed. When you find that location it’s just a matter of watching and waiting. It’s gone quickly, so always be watching.
