De Hoop is a windmill built in 1888 in the Dutch hamlet of Appel. The mill replaced the scaffolding mill burnt down next the road, which dated from 1863. De Hoop is an eight-sided flour mill of the type of a mill with a stone substructure and a wooden, thatched roof superstructure. The wooden octagon comes from a Zwolse oil mill , which in turn probably comes from the Zaan region .

Weer een Hoop geleerd. Er zijn 1000 Hopen in Nederland en ik wist echt niet waar Appel ligt (zo dichtbij en toch...). Verder weet ik nu eindelijk de Engelse naam voor een stellingmolen en heb ik weer een plaatsje in de buurt dat ik moet bezoeken. De hamlet is historisch wel erg super interessant.... En de foto is zeer verdienstelijk.
