Location
The photo was taken along the road from the Snæfellsnes peninsula to Hvammstangi (Iceland), I can't remember the nearest town tho.Time
This photo was taken around an hour before sunset, just at the beginning of the golden hour.Lighting
Usually, at this time of the day, you would start seeing some orange colors going on in the sky, but on that day the sky was covered in a thick layer of clouds. Those clouds were responsible for the very soft light, which made a huge influence on the mood and the rather minimalistic feel of the photo. After all, light is the most important factor.Equipment
This was shot only with a Nikon D7000 and the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8.Inspiration
I'm in constant search for compositions while in Iceland. Especially those that are simple and rather minimalistic. Seeing the lonely house in the middle of nowhere standing against the mountain in the very soft light, inspired me to stop and take the shot.Editing
I usually need hours to process my images, but this one was pretty straight forward. First of all, I've cooled the image down using the Whitebalance slider in Lightroom and adjusted my exposure, after that, I've increased the red saturation and finally, I've added a soft vignette in the color of the snow.In my camera bag
Back in the day, when I shot the photo my camera bag contained a Nikon D7000 with the Nikon 16-85mm f/3.5-5.6 and Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 lenses, a DJI Spark drone, a cheap but stable tripod and some filters from Gobe. During the past year, I've replaced most of the gear tho. A Nikon D750 with an L-Bracket replaced the D7000, a Sigma 15-30mm f/3.5-4.5 and a Nikon 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5 both replaced my old DX zoom and the 100mm Lee filter set replaced my old Gobe filters.Feedback
Keep your eyes open! Try constantly to scan your surrounding! Some of those rather minimalistic shot opportunities just pop up during the day, and it's easy to miss them.
