Location
The photo was taken at Lake Spitzingsee near Munich, Germany. This lake is unique as it is a small, quiet lake, tightly tucked between Taubenstein, Jaegerkamp and Brecherspitz mountains on all sides and gets the Sun for a shorter duration.Time
This was early morning, around 7 Am. This was the beginning of our morning hike to a nearby hut in the mountains during the Easter weekend. After an hours drive from Munich, we parked near the lake and started walking. The way to the hike was around the lake and thats when the sight made me stop for this picture.Lighting
The morning stillness of the lake and first sunlight hitting the huts made it a perfect shot. The shadows of the mountain nearby covered the foreground of the lake, making the huts stand out.Equipment
As this was shot while walking on a hike, I had no time to set up a tripod. Though the reflections would have been far more smoother, I took this handheld. I used my Canon 70D with multipurpose Tamrom 16- 300 lens.Inspiration
I have been missing taking picture while hiking because carrying heavy camera equipment on a 1000hm hike can be tiring. So, for easier hikes I make it a point to strap on my camera so as no to miss moments like this.Editing
Not much. I did touch the light on the huts a bit to balance with the foreground. I always prefer and say ' the more time you spend on location, the less you may spend on post processing'.In my camera bag
Canon 70D with Tamron 16-300 + Canon 50mm, Canon 10-18 wide angle. Leica D Lux4 with adaptor to add filters.Feedback
Beat laziness and be at the location, early morning / late evening or just stay put at a place for a few more minutes and you will get your moment. Once I walked for 3.5 kms in minus 1 snow weather to reach my shooting spot. The pictures I got on the way and at location are still some of my best.
