Location
This is a unique waterfall within English Garden, Munich, Germany.Time
Early morning around 7 - 7.30 AM. This is when the light shines best, comfortably warm around this part of the stream.Lighting
The light was classic sideways from the east (left side).Equipment
I used Canon 70D, Tamron 16-300 with ND 1000 filter to get the water trail. Tripod from Slik, a simple sturdy one for my outdoor use.Inspiration
I have been wanting to shoot the long exposure waterfalls, the classic. English Garden is one inspiring space in the middle of the city. Quite under utilized by landscape photographers who usually head out to the Alps and near by frequently. Early mornings, especially late summer and Autumn reveals a lot of drama. This is what brought me here. As I live in Munich, its always easy to reach there... though its never easy to get up early morning to catch the morning fog and sunrise!Editing
I always say, 'the more time you spend at the location, the less time you are likely to spend on editing'. No post processing done for this one. This is cropped version from the larger shot with full waterfall in 16:9 wide. This crop was originally taken for my own mobile wall paper and hence you see the clean foreground portion cut out.In my camera bag
My bag is always packed and ready, with my Canon 70D, Tamron 16-300 multipurpose lens. I also carry Canon 50mm macro, Canon 55-250 Telephoto and Canon 10-18 wide angle. Plus I have a mix bag of filters, but my most prized possession is the Dol Der Xpro slim ND1000 filter for extra long exposures. Other than that CPL, ND10, and UV filters from K&F Concept. I always have 2-3 memory cards from Scandisk Extreme. Recently I also included a MOVO shoulder strap to hang my camera while hiking. Other important stuff - a rain cover for my bag, cleaning kit and tripod.Feedback
Get up early morning to catch the magic of fog and sunlight. Wear good shoes. Exercise often so that you can stand in one place for a long time. I usually spend atleast 1 hour at a location. For this pic, I was here for around 1 hour and in all spent 3 hours in the garden shooting other stuff. Chanced upon a fellow photographer and now we are good friends. (Thats a bonus.) Try out different exposures and settings. Get the level correct. Use a levelling object or incamera leveler. Use a remote or delay timer to avoid shaking. Of course, use a tripod.
