Behind The Lens

Location

Myself and a friend was on a battlefield tour in epees right next to the Mennen gate memorial. we were having a coffee when a group of bikers pulled up and had a smoke brake. i pulled out my camera and took some shots.

Time

it was about lunch time. i was not expecting to get any photos as the light was very hard. luckily he had parked under a tree which helped out with the lighting.

Lighting

The lighting was broken up by a great big oak tree and lots of green leafs. it did give the photos a green hint to them. that is why i changed the photo to black & white.

Equipment

I us Nikon. this was shot with a D7100, i also have a D750 in my bag. Nikon 24mm to 70mm lens on one camera a a macro on the other.

Inspiration

We were sat chatting about how harsh the lighting was and that taking photos that day was going to be very hard. i was talking about how fab the bikes were looking. as the guy got off of his bike that he parked under this great big oak tree, it had the photo look so good. i grabbed a camera and started to shoot after i got permition from the owner of the bike. the shade from the tree gave a good look i thought.

Editing

i changed the photo to B&W i added a little bit more contrast to make the photo pop a bit more.

In my camera bag

i normaly have 2 cameras D7100 and D750, a 90 mm macro lens, 24mm to 70mm nikon len, 50mm nikon lens, 1 speed light, extra batteries, cable release and a tripod

Feedback

keep your camera with you all the time, you never know when a good chance of a shot might pop up. even in very harsh bad lighting if you keep your eyes open you might be able take some photos. not just in the golden and blue hours.
