I gave my wife some flowers like I do every month, she asked me to photo them. I put them on the garden table but the picture was to cluttered. I went inside to find some card. It then rained for an hour or so. I came out with some white and black card. I tried both colours and liked the black best.Time
I took this shot about 11am, it was a very over cast day, not much sunshine but bright for an overcast day.Lighting
I used a Nikon 900 speed light from the side to add some high lights.Equipment
D750 Nikon, carbon tripod, cable release and a speed light.Inspiration
The flowers came out so nice and I wanted to photo something in the day time. I seen a you tube video about shooting from home in your garden. How you don’t need lots of expensive studio equipment.Editing
I added a S curve in photoshop. A bit of dodging and burning small bit of sharpening and contrast to make the photo pop a bit.In my camera bag
Two cameras, D750 and D7100. 50mm 1.2f Nikon lens. 24to70mm 2.8f Nikon lens, 10to20mm tameron lens, 70 to 200mm Nikon 2.8f-4.5f Nikon lens (I don’t use much) 90mm macro lens. Speed light, cable release spare batteries cloth other cleaning kit.Feedback
Just get out there and try, have fun with it, don’t be afraid to make mistake. I was told digital film cost nothing. Also don’t be afraid to try a bit of editing just don’t over do the editing as sometimes the photos can come out a bit OTT.
