Location
Taken in Kyoto, Japan. Had one hour to prep and explore a small temple area before she arrived, then literally 8 minutes to shoot! Her half painted lips indicate to others that she is in training and to forgive her for any mistakes.Time
Mid afternoon.Lighting
The light wasn’t that great giving a rather dull background, so I asked her to use her umbrella and it completely changed the lighting of the shot.Equipment
Canon 70D. 50mm 1.8 prime.Inspiration
The temple had some interesting aspects but a lot of dull brown. So I needed some colour, and wanted to take the shot through the lattice work to give a different dimension and to add to the lines on her umbrella.Editing
Very basic lightroom. In my camera bag
Canon 70D (though now upgraded to 5D mark iv) 50mm 1.8 16-35L 70-200LFeedback
Try and get something extra, an extra element to the shot perhaps, as often you find the same practiced facial pose in this scenario.
