Location
I shot this in my Dallas studio, using a charcoal seamless paper backdrop.Time
I shot this using strobe lights, and blackout curtains on the windows so time of day wasn’t a factor in this photograph.Lighting
I used studio strobes in a chimera soft boxEquipment
The camera I used was a Canon 5D mark iv with an 85mm 1.8 lens set to f4.5. ISO 100 shot RAWInspiration
Beautiful mother and daughter was the inspiration for this. Mother was a firmer model and daughter was an aspiring model, now a successful model.Editing
I shot in RAW and just did standard adjustments in Lightroom. Exposure, shadows, highlights, clarity. In my camera bag
My bag is actually a huge walk-in closet and I have mostly lights and light modifiers. I choose from many different lenses but my favorite is the Canon 50mm 1.4 and their 85mm 1.8Feedback
Look and listen to your subjects as if they were your dearest friends. Study them while you talk to them (about them) before you have them on the set. Then on set just talk to them. People will be more guarded on set if they feel you studying them there, so do that before hand.
