Location
This was taken at a riverside in Monson MA, right next to a small boat dock where lots of very curious people were putting kayaks in the water.Time
It was mid afternoon, not sure the exact time.Lighting
It was a somewhat shady area with shafts of sunlight. She is being lit with a PCB einstein to fill shadows, the highlights are natural sunlight.Equipment
It was shot with a Nikon D7100, using a Nikon 70-200 VR2 lens, on a Vanguard tripod.Inspiration
We had been shooting in this river for a while with her in various outfits. Every time she got out of the water, she would use that towel to dry off. Towards the end of the shoot, I basically dared her to go in with just the towel, and she surprised my by saying ok, lol. We did several shots that way, while people kayaked by, and they turned out to be the best shots we did all day.Editing
Post was more or less just B&W conversion, wtih some adjustment of shadows, etc. Nothing too fancy/In my camera bag
My camera bag now has a D850 but this was done with a D7100, Tamron 24-70 f2.8, Nikon 70-200 f2.8, Nikon 50 F1.8, Nikon 24-120, Tamron 16-300 DX, Nikon SB800, Sekonic L-358, a cyber commander and trigger, two Yongnuo YN-560IVs and the YN560-TX. I also have a small 7" HDMI monitor that I attach to my tripod with a clamp and connect to the camera while shooting to review photos as I go, but it's not a true tether, just a monitor. For main lighting, I'm now using a Flashpoint Xplor 600, but this was shot with a PCB Einstein using a Vagabond battery.Feedback
I think I say the same thing every time I fill one of these out, but I cannot stress enough what a difference it makes to have a great model. Savannah is someone I've worked with many times. She's professional, funny, and easy to work with. She is also fearless. She has gotten into freezing cold streams in 50 degree weather wearing stiletto heels, lol. I love working with her, and this location was someplace she had found. So, the advice would just be, find someone you love shooting with, someone who knows what they are doing and is open to ideas, and has ideas of their own.
