Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken with a model at Bucknell University. It was using an old and mildly warn loading dock where they deliver food shipments.Time
This was taken in the early afternoon when the sun was at its highest. That means that lighting was rather harsh but could be adjusted in editing software.Lighting
I am a natural light photographer so learning how to reflect light is very important. Especially when you are outside and the light is changing.Equipment
I used a Nikon D610 camera body with the Nikon 50mm F 1.8 lens. But this photo could have been taken with any camera that has a 50mm lens. A light reflector with a gold base was used to give the subject a warm glow.Inspiration
This photo wasn't directly inspired by anything. It was taken as a headshop for my model who is an aspiring dancer and performer for college additions. We had scouted several locations and found that this spot offered enough interest that it complimented the model without taking the focus away from her.Editing
Yes, I adjusted the color both saturation and vibrance; then I added contrast and slightly darkened the image. Once I had adjusted everything I turned the photo to black and white to make the subject pop more on the cream background. Lastly, I adjusted the black and white tones to where her skin tones and hair looked dynamic and not flat.In my camera bag
I carry way too much equipment in my bag personally but what always stays in my back is two extra lenses, cleaning supplies, and extra batteries. Anything more than that is just extra and you should change out your equipment for every shoot so your bag is packed for your needs.Feedback
I would say if you would like to capture something similar then try to scout out locations before actually going on your photoshoot. Once you have a model and locations in mind the only question left is how do you want to portray your subject?
