Location
I took this in the grasslands above my house a few years ago. I am a mostly self taught photographer with a few high school classes under my belt. I don’t like following composition “rules” or what settings I should use- I like to shoot what feels right in the moment.Time
This was taken in the minutes after golden hour as the sun sunk behind the next mountain.Lighting
I wanted this to look like a painting - the bright sunset colors mixing with the muted greens and yellows of ether late summer grass.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon T5i Rebel out the door of a vehicle.Inspiration
The gorgeous colors in the sky. Kamloops is notorious for our breath taking summer sunsets.Editing
Yes, I played with the contrast a bit to get that painting feel. I don’t like to edit my photos too heavily as I believe it distorts its true beauty and alters how I remember the moment in my mind.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon T5i, monopod, 70-300mm lens, 18-22mm lens, and a film camera incase the desire strikes.Feedback
Keep your eye on the sky and keep your camera at the ready. Clouds and the colors of the sky can change in the blink of an eye.
