Location
This image was taken in an abandon playground of an Elementary School in Elyria, OhioTime
This image was taken right around 12:30pm or 1pm in the afternoon. It was extremely hot out that day, but it was worth going out there because the colors were fantastic that time of year in the Fall.Lighting
The Autumn Colors were beaming in the hot afternoon sun. It was gorgeous out, with all sorts of reds, yellows, and bright oranges. Perfect for the setting I needed with the Jackson Guitar I was using as my models prop. It gave me just enough light to not need an external flash, and was high enough over head that it gave highlights to not only the bright colors on the guitar but the highlights in my models hair as well.Equipment
Nikon D300,Inspiration
My model Logan, was a going into her senior year of high school, and in my vocal mentoring program with my band Nomad Soul. She took upon herself to learn how to play the guitar and learn how to read and write music. She is a fantastic singer and songwriter, and poet. I think the inspiration for this image came from me watching her grow as an artist over the last 4 years that she has been in my mentoring program, and as a young woman as well. She has made huge progress over the last 4 years I have known her, and I am extremely proud to be her mentor.Editing
I did a few alterations in Lightroom for Color, Contrast, and Light Adjustment. In my camera bag
Now I have my Nikon D800 and 24-70mm f/2.8 Tamron Lens, and my Nikon 50mm f/1.8 Prime Lens. But back when It took this image I usually had my Nikon D300 and a few different Nikon lenses. I always carry a gray card, tripod, lens cleaners, small multi tool kit, charged batteries, Sb800 Speed flash and extra batteries. Reflectors and modifiers.Feedback
I would just look for the best lighting. As a musician myself, I like to have images taken of myself ( when I am not playing) that show depth and thought. When I am playing, I love action and emotion. Lighting is always key when shooting any of these types of images because musicians have so many layers, the lighting brings those layers to the surface and can give the viewer a peek into their world and help them get to know them better. In this image, I wanted to show the viewer that Logan was not just beautiful but thoughtful, talented, and had somewhat of a rebel side to her.
