This image was taked near Tejo river at Lisbon in Portugal. This bridge is the 9º longest bridge in the world. The Vasco da Gama Bridge is a bridge over the Tejo river in the Greater Lisbon area, connecting Montijo and Alcochete to Lisbon and Sacavém, very close to the Park of Nations, which was held at Expo 98. Inaugurated on March 29, 1998, the bridge is the longest in Europe and is currently the longest ninth worldwide, with its 17.3 km long, of which more than 14 are on the Tejo´s estuary waters. In his inauguration it was served feijoada had the right to registration in the Guinness World Records. The go (board length) of the central viaduct is 420 m. It was built in order to provide an alternative to the bridge on April 25 for the traffic that runs between the north and the south in the Portuguese capital area. When its construction was necessary to take special care about the environmental impact, since it crosses the Tejo´s Estuary Nature Park, an important area at European level of food and nesting waterfowl. It was also necessary to the relocation of 300 families. The name of the bridge commemorates the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Vasco da Gama to India in 1498.
