Location
Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Arizona. After a rare rain, puddles form on the red rock above the State Park. Photographers gather near sunset to capture photos of the famous formation.Time
Not long before sunset.Lighting
The sun is from behind.Equipment
Canon XTi, 18-55 lens. An old travel tripod.Inspiration
A man saw me taking pictures in the state park below. Because it had just rained, he asked me if I wanted to get something really rare and special. He showed me how to get to this site. We walked down a long trail and finally reached the flat, red rock. Quite a few "locals" were already there and I felt very lucky to have the opportunity.Editing
I use Lightroom. I really wanted the reflection to be very clear. In my camera bag
I have upgraded considerably now and carry a Canon 70D with several lenses.Feedback
Sedona is probably the most photogenic place in America. If you haven't been there, you really need to go. It's also a good base for taking pictures at Horseshoe Bend, Monument Valley and the slot canyons near Page, Arizona.
