I prefer this time of day or overcast skies for a shot like this because i liked the "mood" and it would have great colors and not be washed out by harsh light.Equipment
Canon 60D & Sigma zoom lens.Inspiration
I was staying with family and they always have the best garden that attracts Hummingbirds. I spend lots of time watching them and inching closer and closer. They started to get used to seeing me out there everyday and after getting nectar from flowers they would fly into a nearby tree (pictured) and just curiously watch me. It was a perfect opportunity to capture them.Editing
A slight color increase. Just a little low key effect. And increased the clarity of the hummingbird. In my camera bag
Canon 60D, A 28-105mm Sigma lens, Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens, at least 2 batteries, 2 SD cards, lens cloth, some times a tripod and reflector/diffuser.Feedback
With any wildlife patience is key and a good zoom lens. It may take awhile to get that perfect shot. I patiently waited by flowers i knew the hummingbirds would eventually come back to and they did but they can be elusive so it took time for them to be comfortable around me and they realized i wasn't a threat to them and let me inch closer a little at a time. It took me awhile but my patience paid off!
