I took this photo on the set of a feature film in Walkerville, South Africa. My colleague Jacob often got his guitar out on set. I was working as a camera assistant/VT operator and decided to bring my camera one day to take some behind the scenes snaps.Time
If I remember right it was the afternoon, probably lunchtime as we didn't have many other breaks between shooting.Lighting
All natural light, candid shot.Equipment
I shot with an old Minolta SRT-101 on Kodak T-MAX 400. Handheld, natural light.Inspiration
To save a memory of a moment and a colleague on a unique job I'm pleased to have worked on - the South African film Leading Lady.Editing
I had accidentally underexposed the whole roll by one stop so asked the lab to push it when developing. This meant some extra texture to the image which in hindsight I'm pleased with.In my camera bag
I usually shoot now with my Nikon D810, my nifty 50 and a 28-300 zoom. It's fun to still use the old film camera sometimes though, and remember that discipline.Feedback
Have a camera with you! Don't let mistakes hold you back, as I underexposed this by having the wrong ASA setting on the Minolta.
