Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a location near Morgan, South Australia

Time

8.55am

Lighting

The balance between the sun rising, the mist, and the foreground proved chanellging to get the right balance, especially when time was against me. Referencing the histogram always helps.

Equipment

The camera is a Canon 5D MKII with a 24-105mm L series lens and handheld.

Inspiration

The Murray River is a wonderful place and those early morning mist seasons are gorgeous. In this picture I wanted to highlight the morning sunrise throught the mist, but to also show the damaged jetty due to a recent flood. A bonus was the dried out mud left on some the timber that had cracked; which almost seems in contrast to the water below.

Editing

No post processing other than converting from raw to jpg.

In my camera bag

The Canon 5D MKII, 24-105mm L series lens, 24mm 2.8, nifty fifty, an old 70-210mm f4 that still works remarkedly well, and various filters. Also a quick backup Canon GX1 for snapshots.

Feedback

Like anyone else; early mornings, research, but mostly passion for such a rewarding past time.
