The bitterly cold temperatures and wind chills I experienced on US441 in Great Smoky Mountains National Park were worth it to capture this shot. Even though the afternoon indicated clear blue skies for sunset, this thicker bank of clouds rolled in over the horizon as sunset drew closer. The sun setting behind the main ridge of the Great Smoky Mountains created this awesome sun beam, which perfectly illuminated a smaller peak on the North Carolina side of the park.

Absolutely perfect composition, especially with aid of the sun and clouds. Those rays (crepuscular) enhance the lines of the layered mountains. There are the blue ridges and warm tones, bottom left.
