Hi NancyLee! By far one of the best seascape photographs I have seen here on VB, really, I love the lighting and colours, a very well deserved pat on the back. Very well done and all the best, Lincoln :)

Thank you very much. This is one of the first photos I took with my new 70D.

Location
The photo was taken at Hudson Beach Florida overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. There is a wonderful little beach bar there that many people frequent, enjoying a bite to eat or a cocktail or two, while waiting to see what Mother Nature will treat them to. This was taken just in front of that beach bar.Time
I had just upgraded my camera from a Canon Digital Rebel to a 70D and I was anxious to try it out. I only lived about 5 minutes from where this was taken and so when I saw that the sunset was going to be especially colorful, I jumped in my car and headed to the beach. This was taken just as the sun was disappearing below the horizon.Lighting
I wanted to capture the golden colors of the sun reflecting in the clouds and on the water. It's funny, but I actually had just purchased my camera and was unsure of the settings. I experimented at first, fumbling with the settings because who needs to read the manual right? Eventually, I decided to set the camera to automatic so as not to miss the opportunity to capture this gorgeous sunset and this is the end result.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 70D with an 18-135mm lens handheld.Inspiration
I found that the sunsets in Florida tend to be more beautiful during the later months in the year. Since I had just upgraded my camera for my birthday and September sunsets are some of the most colorful, I hoped that when I saw the sky beginning to turn a beautiful orange color that this sunset would be a memorable one....and it was!Editing
No post processing. In my camera bag
My Canon 70D of course with my 18-135 lens, my Canon Digital Rebel xt with the standard 18-55 lens and a 55-250 zoom. I also carry filters, lens hoods, cleaning cloths, sensor and lens cleaner and of course the all important bug spray!Feedback
Always carry your camera with you, know when the best time of year is for spectacular sunsets (but then again, aren't all sunsets wonderful?) and don't be afraid to try different settings on your camera. When I took this photo, I had just purchased my camera and was unsure of the different settings but that didn't stop me from trying them. It just so happens that the best photo that I took that day was shot on the automatic setting. Who knew?
