Location
This photo was taken in the Palouse area in Washington stateTime
Taken at mid-day on a mostly sunny dayLighting
Nothing really exceptional, the sun was still fairly high in early Oct. it was one of the last really nice days of the year. Some large clouds came through that cast really nice shadows on the fields.Equipment
I used a first generation cannon rebel.Inspiration
driving on a country road heading into the sun on a beautiful day out pops this field and this old barn, We were on Our way to a waterfall but We just had to stop. It was one of those must stop and shoot places.Editing
Other than converting to Black and white I used curves and levels. In my camera bag
I always carry lens wipes, a plastic bag in case of rain, water and a small snack. AND a tripod always.Feedback
Use a tripod and if You do always turn off Your vibration control, it could inter fer with the sharpness of Your photo. have the sun behind You and if You have a polarizing filter that can work great too, but only at around 90 degrees to the sun.Keep the shot as simple as You can and have the subject in focus with a who cares aperture of f8.Use the rule of thirds in Your framing.
