FollowTaken in north carolina. I was astounded at how many roots all stemed down from this one tree and seemed to take over the forest floor. Makes me eyes go all over the place.

Location
I took this photo on a family vacation to Bat Cave, North Carolina. It was fun learning how to photograph nature in a completely new environment.Time
This photo was taken around the middle of the day, it was partially cloudy but still super humid as the summer sun was not forgiving.Lighting
The light outside was very moody as it was partially overcast. It helped create a very neutral tone which I think really helped the mood of the photographEquipment
I used a canon 5D mark 1. It’s an older camera but it was in my budget as a college student. I’m hoping to upgrade soon!Inspiration
I think the complexity of North Carolina’s nature. I really liked how all the roots overlapped each other, almost spreading out across the Forrest floor, fighting to take as much territory as possible.Editing
I did some minor editing like contrast and levels in photoshop, however I like to keep my photographs pretty clean and natural as possible. In my camera bag
I usually carry my digital camera as well as my canon A1 film camera which I love. I also sometimes bring my Diana F+ medium format camera as it’s fun to experiment with.Feedback
Try to look at nature from a different perspective than most people. People sometimes forget that like animals, plants adapt and evolve to survive too, it’s just not noticeable since they don’t move like we do. I try to capture that with my images.
