As I walk around with my camera and get into my 'zone,' I find myself often looking for something that is a definitive example of what appears to be everywhere, a repetitive element of my current surroundings. This is in reality very difficult to accomplish.
Henri Cartier-Bresson, one of the early masters of what we now call Street Photography, told us to look for the "Decisive Moment," the exact instance when a unique event can be captured, which will express all comparable incidents. I am going to coin(?) the phrase, the "decisive sample," to describe the perfect representation of an entity which when captured will express all similar instances...
This image is my "decisive sample,' of the colorful store and shop fronts seen in Irish towns throughout the country...
