Hollyhocks bloom from June to October. They attract many insects, especially bumblebees, during flowering. The fruits look a bit like “cheeses”. Not surprising, because hollyhocks belong to the mallow family. These “cheeses” fall apart in the autumn and scatter disc-shaped seeds around that germinate easily.

Regardless of the cheese factor, I adore hollyhocks. They are considered rather old fashioned here but I still love them. Yours is a lovely photo of one :)
