I took this photo in Sardegna, Italy. The rock you see in the centre of the image is called Pan di Zucchero ('sugar bread')Time
I took this photo just before sunset. I was in Sardegna for work and had managed to finish early enough to drive over here and take this photo. Since this part of the coast is facing west, the afternoon evening is the best time to take photos here.Lighting
There was still a glow of the last sunlight on the rocks and of course the clouds were beautifully lit.Equipment
I used a Canon-6D Mk1 with a 16-35mm f/4 and a 10 stop ND filter. Of course I used a tripod since this was quite a long exposure.Inspiration
As is usual in Sardegna there was quite a breeze. I wanted to take a long exposure so that the movement of the clouds would become evident. The movement of the clouds now ponts to the centre of the photo and giude the viewer to the stack in the sea.Editing
There's not that much post-processing involved. I saturated the colours a little and made the light look a little warmer. I also increased exposure on the rocks in the distance to create a bit more depth and detail. In my camera bag
Canon 6D Mk1 with 16-35mm f/4, 70-200mm F2.8, polorizing filter, 10 stop ND filter, extra battery and memory cards and a Sirui tripod to keep everything steady.Feedback
It's always fun playing with ND filters. You never know exactly what the result will be. Play with different exposure times to obtain the result you want. Just make sure you have a good tripod and ball head.
