Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo close to my house at a big field full of poppies every spring. I simply love the red flowers and the greens flooding the whole hill til it reaches the horizon.

Time

The time between 5 and 7 o'clock in the morning is my favourite time to go out and search for fantastic lightings, scenes and moods. I love sunsets and their special beauty as well, but in the morning everything is fresh and new and smooth...nature's waking up....magical moments!

Lighting

I love the natural lighting in sunrises and sunsets. No artificial lighting. Never. Ok...it's taking time and patience, but it's worth it!

Equipment

My Nikon D7200 with my Sigma 18-250mm lens and mostly of course an tripod with infrared remote. Taking photos at sunrise or sunset mostly needs a tripod to get sharp results.

Inspiration

Those amazing colours! I love colours in the fresh air of an early morning. Every minute the sun rises, the light changes and draws new wonderful sceneries....I can't get enough of those special moments.

Editing

I am using Lightroom. I am working on mood and colours and maybe some cropping, sharping asf. I don't (!!) use Photoshop to compose my photos or anything like that. With my photos you get what I saw when I took them. No tricks!

In my camera bag

My Nikon D7200, some lenses - mostly my Sigma 18-250, but for landscapes my tokina 11-16, I am taking with me mostly only the special lens I want to use for the special purpose I got a bunch of lenses for special kinds of purposes.....

Feedback

Take your time, be patient, be careful in finding the right place.....trust in your feelings. And if it didn't fit this day, come back tomorrow, the day after tomorrow, next week.....don't give up! Don't forget: photography is painting with light - so paint like a painter - with your eyes, your heart and the feeling for this very special moment you wanted to fix. Equipement not as important as some people think - important is at first your feeling!
