Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was shot in Squamish, BC, Canada.

Time

The photo was shot late afternoon.

Lighting

Location is tricky as the airport is surrounded by tall mountains so makes the golden hour photographs a little difficult as shadows are dominant around this area. So late afternoon makes an interesting time to get some light filter through the peaks and give an interesting mix of light and shadows.

Equipment

The photo was shot using Canon 80d and 50mm 1.8.

Inspiration

Being a pilot myself I've always been fascinated with airplanes and having this incredible aircraft visit the local airport I was working at the time. So took the opportunity to capture this image with interesting light and shadows.

Editing

Yes, slight color adjustment dropping a bit of saturation as it was a very bright setting and raising shadows around the area. Rest was standard exposure and highlight adjustment.

In my camera bag

Presently have been using the Canon EOSR mirrorless system and slowly and slowly collecting the R lenses.

Feedback

The most important advice is to carry your gear with you whenever you can as you never know when and where you might get an opportunity where you wish you had your gear on you. Always see things as you wish you to see them and always find a way to engage your creativity. Last of all keep taking photos and challenge yourself every day! :)
