Behind The Lens

Location

This Photo was taken in Squamish Valley just north of Vancouver British Columbia. A small town nestled in the valley bottom surrounded by beautiful mountains and near the Pacific Ocean.

Time

It was shot during the evening hours right around the magic golden hour during my drive towards the Squamish river.

Lighting

For this particular shot, it was all natural lighting. This particular time of the day just before the sun disappears behind the mountains shed one of the most magical display of light scattering around the valley from the mountain tops.

Equipment

Used Canon 80D with 50mm lens.

Inspiration

The inspiration for this photo was quite childlike, I just took my gear with my girlfriend to up the valley and exploring the trails after the fresh snowfall and just play around and see if anything catches the eye and on our drive there I was just in awe of this road we were driving which lead to me get my camera out and start shooting.

Editing

Just the standard post-processing adjusting the shadows, highlights and clarity that's it.

In my camera bag

Mostly I always carry my Canon 80D with me and with that 50mm 1.8 (nifty fifty), and Tamron 24-70 G2 lens. these 2 lenses they fit easily in my backpack and great for quick portrait or landscape or urban shots.

Feedback

Most important advice I would give anyone is the one I keep reminding myself of is to go out and shoot! You never know what you'll find and what might end up inspiring you. Just like this shot I went out to shoot around Squamish River and ended falling in love with the drive over. Another thing is to experiment with your photography and challenge yourself to try something new which will force you to dive deep into your camera settings and force you to use your gear to its full potential.
