This wooden grain elevator near Beulah, on the CNR Rapid City Subdivision in Beulah, was built in 1927 by the Manitoba Pool Elevators. The facility operated until December 1978 when the adjacent rail line was removed. It was then taken over by a local farmers cooperative and it was used until around 2000. The elevator now stands vacant. At one time there were over 3500 of these "Prarie Sentinels" in Manitoba, Canada. I made it a point on a recently planned Rocky Mountain trip from Jasper to Colorado to get to Jasper via Winipeg and travel across Manitoba and Saskathewan in order to photograph some of these historical buildings. This was possible due to help I received from the Manitoba Historical Society's Chief Researcher Mr. Gordon Goldsborough on where to find some of the old wooden elevators that are still standing.
