This photo was taken in my garage, I'm a self taught photographer who loves experimenting and creating eye catching photographs.Time
This is definitely one of my favorite images I've taken so far. I had been experimenting with a glass ball for awhile and also loved shooting at night using neon light and water. I decided to take my three favorite mediums, water, neon lights and my glass ball and try to merge them into something really unique. So I got a couple of my friends, a bucket of water, some reflective apparel and a couple of LED lights and we got to work.Lighting
I wanted the subject and colors to really pop, so I placed a Yongnuo YN360 LED light wand on each side of the subject and had him sit far enough away from the background so as not to have the lights spill on the background. Then we experimented with placing and it turned out pretty cool.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D Mark 3, using a 50mm 1.4 lens.Inspiration
I love tossing up objects and water and capturing them with a very fast shutter speed so as to freeze the motion and achieve a levitation like effect. Adding neon lights was just the icing on the cake.Editing
I brought the image into photoshop to bump the contrast, add a bit of sharpening and adjust the colors as needed. As well as remove any minor spill light from the background. In my camera bag
My go to was a Canon 5Dmk3 and my trust 50mm 1.4. This year I transitioned to the Canon R & Then R5. So the R5 is now my go to with either a 50mm or 85mm 1.4. That and either a glass ball or glass prism, because I love adding a little bit of reflection magic now and then.Feedback
Make sure you have strong enough lighting to enable you to bump up the shutter speed to capture the moving objects/subjects you're shooting. Especially in dark settings like this. ISO can certainly help in a pinch but if I'd have bumped it up to high I would have gotten a very grainy image.
