For nearly 1000 years, Southwell Minster has been a place of Pilgrimage. Archbishops of York declared it to be the ' mother church' for the county of Nottinghamshire. The Norman Minster replaced the Saxon one on the same site in 1108 AD. The Norman regime beginning in 1108 to some 50 to 70 years to complete.
