Location
Photo was taken on a nature trail in the West end of Ottawa.Time
Time was approx. 11:00 am.Lighting
It was a dark morning but I could see the clouds breaking up. Tall canopy of mature poplar trees always makes for mottled lighting.Equipment
Camera was a Nikon, D80. Lens was 2.8, 50 mm standard portrait lens. Exposure was in B&W, f8, speed 1/60. Flash set to compensate for lack of light on front of subject.Inspiration
She was playing with a damselfly which kept going out to hunt and then kept coming back to land on her hand. I asked her to move her hand into one of the patches of light and voila.Editing
Only post processing was to turn shot into a sepia and minor cropping. In my camera bag
The Nikon D80. And older Leica, 35 mm film camera too. Lenses, Nikkor 70-210 macro/zoom, 4.1. Nikkor 35 mm, Nikkor 50mm. Vivitar 400 telephoto. Leica, 50mm, 28 mm and old Vivitar 200mm zoom. Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
You need to picture the image you want in your mind, then set it up to match that visualization. Take several exposures. Over and under. Experiment and play.
