Previous night's freezing rain gave the snow a cool textured sheen, allowing this Oak to be shot with a very quick glimpse of the sun.

Warm Summer day on the boardwalk catching sunbeams and playing with damsel flies.

Warm Spring day just chilling out in the snow bank and getting clean.

Watching this formation appear right before my eyes was too much to resist. The sun dropped a few degrees and then this one bunch of clouds broke up,

Spring thaw with the water dripping through the limestone cliffs is always a wonderful creation.

Spring flood on the Ottawa River. This area is usually 30 feet of beach.

Dark and gloomy...but the textures and forms of Cedar trees lend themselves nicely to creepy and mysterious thoughts.

Still life of antique barn.

That one lone cloud mixed with the conning trails lends an otherwise blank sky some nice perspective and interest.

Nice blanket of fog covering old farmland. Less is more when trying to shoot with only 20 feet of visibility.

Caught this little guy feeding on the first pollen of the new year.

Dead Ash tree is completely suffocated by wild grape vines. The foggy morning helped to add a mysterious quality to the shot.

Colour, form, texture, contrast and composition. Hope I got a few of them right with this nice Fall capture.

Fine example of some antique farm equipment. The rusty forms and shadows set up nicely for a still life.

Golden Retriever sitting quietly watching the stream and the squirrels.

These metal parts were just lying around an old abandoned cabin. After the snowfall, they transformed into this cool wreckage.

Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken at the Carp Ridge in Ontario, Can. Middle of the winter.

Time

With such a bright, sunny day, the shadows of various trees on the snow was quite appealing. Had to find the right Sumac with a little character projecting just the right distance with the sun behind it.

Lighting

Bracketed shot to get the correct exposure. Very harsh, full winter sun with nice black shadows.

Equipment

Just my old Nikon D80, hand held.

Inspiration

Really starting to get into 'Zen' type photos. Always experimenting.

Editing

Very minor. Just added some contrast in the foreground snow to break up the sea of white.

In my camera bag

Nikon D700, D90 for backup. Various older Nikkor lenses.

Feedback

Be as creative as possible. Take photos that you have not seen before. Experiment.
