Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in the Norwood section of the Bronx.Time
There's a depression along the side of a road, close to where I live. I walk this road every day. When it rains the depression fills and becomes a community bird bath. It was around 5:30 in the afternoon when I spotted this Robin, taking a leisurely bath.Lighting
The sun was setting, so there very nice hues of orange, red and yellow, which played into the feathers of the Robin.Equipment
I tend to use a Nikon D750 for low light situations. The lens was a 55-300mm. No flash was used and no tripod.Inspiration
The scene was so serene; a stark contrast to the chaos of the city, that I knew I had to capture it.Editing
The photo came out of the camera almost perfect; only slight adjustments to contrast where needed. In my camera bag
I get out and shoot almost everyday. The weather and the time of day dictate what gear I use. There are days when I just don't want to carry anything, I will use my cell phone or a pocket sized camera. However, for a paid assignment, I take everything. Lenses from fisheye to telephoto. Three camera bodies (FX and DX), three speed lights, tripod, duct tape, water, fig bars, Altoids Antacids, Aspirin and an assistant.Feedback
I don't believe that I am able to tell anyone to do this or to do that. However, I can share what I do. Be awake. Be prepared. Think photographically and shoot. It's as easy as that. Go in peace and capture the world.
