Location
This photo was taken at a photography workshop hosted by Ironwood Wolves in Delaware, OH. They are a licensed wildlife education facility that offers many events, including photography workshops, to educate and inspire the public to care for wolves and other wild canine species. In this case, foxes.Time
This would have been taken in the late morning, early in the workshop. The animals always need a bit of time to get used to the people attending the workshop, so they tend to hang out with each other more at first.Lighting
This image is all nature lighting.Equipment
I created this image with a Nikon D5200 and either a 35mm or a 50 mm lens. I usually stick to those two portrait lenses when working with living beings. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
When I noticed Vincent and Obi (the foxes) looking at each other this way it looked to me as if they were gossiping about the workshop participants. I thought it was too perfect a moment to miss.Editing
I have a standard process I use in post for all of my images that was applied. It adjusts the saturation and contrast of the image above all.In my camera bag
I have a Nikon D5200 and a D7200 that I work with. They may not be full-frame, but they certainly get the job done and do it well. I also have a 35mm, 50mm, and a 14-24mm lens that come with me everywhere I go. When I use them depends on what I'm photographing that day.Feedback
Keep your eyes open. You never know what animals will do; when they will do something silly, cute, or mischievous. I also highly recommend working with organizations like Ironwood Wolves. This organization works with these animals as educational ambassadors and imparts knowledge of the animals just as much as giving you the opportunity to photograph them.
