Location
We shot this on St. Pete Beach in sunny Florida.Time
To shoot on the beach, you need to be up early as the sun rises fast. We were on set by 7am and had shot multiple looks before this one. This suit was photographed about 9am.Lighting
With the hard light of the rising sun, you need to soften it a bit or your subject won’t be able to keep their eyes open. I ran a 6’x6’ scrim overhead to diffuse the natural light.Equipment
This was shot long lens, 70-200, for compression and a softer background.Inspiration
Building books for upcoming models is a big part of my business here in Florida. Some talent travel here to add swimwear to their portfolio. This was one of those occasions. Gwen is a very successful model now and this was early book building work for her, shot with a great team.Editing
Very minimal post processing through Lightroom with some mild skin retouching in PS.In my camera bag
Always my 85mm paired with something wide, a 24mm, or one of my favorite old Nikkor lenses, the 19mm f/2.8Feedback
Get up early. Use the sun at your back. Soften it when needed. Have fun!
