Location
I took this image at a popular junction for light trails in Glasgow, the building across the road is Charing Cross Mansions in the Charing Cross business area of Glasgow. The M8, the main motorway artery in Glasgow thunders under this junction to the right hand side, while the local Glasgow city traffic is above the motorway.Time
This image was taking around 7:30pm on a Scottish Winter's evening.Lighting
I was trying some slow shutter speeds to see how they would work out. Unfortunately, they have now changed the lighting there and the new lights are too bright.Equipment
Nikon D80, Kit 18-55mm Lens, Tripod.Inspiration
I wanted to practice Slow Shutter speed and light trails as I had not done much, if any of this, previously.Editing
I don't remember doing much Post on this image, I perhaps sharpened the buildings in the background and brightened up the exposure. Its been a while, can't be sure.In my camera bag
For night photography I now usually have my Nikon D7200, Tokina 11-20mm (although I still take my 18-55mm, it still serves me well if I want some compression), head torch, warm gloves and a tripod.Feedback
Watch the weather, dress appropriately and always be safe. If you want to enter your images in for Distinctions try and take them in the Blue Hour as this is preferred by the judges than a black dark sky.
