Thank you all for the awards for my image., I am really surprised that it was so popular. I was out photographing the Christmas lights again this week, but the ones in this street are really disappointing this year.

A lovely capture! I have just read your 'behind the lens' too and you sound like a person after my own heart!

Location
South Moulton Street in the West End of London.Time
About 9 p.m. in the evening.Lighting
Not really. I use a bridge camera which I set on a night setting, & adjusted the light until I thought it was right. Luckily for me it was!Equipment
I use a bridge camera & a monopod which is easier to carry around in crowds than a tripod.Inspiration
A group of us were out photographing the Christmas lights in the West End. I thought this street was particularly beautiful, & what made it more so was the rain which gave the stunning reflections. I always love shooting groups of people, & really liked the silhouettes in the picture. I'm not particularly technical, to me image & composition are everything.Editing
Only very basic editing, such as adjusting contrast. I did crop several sections of the shot to create a couple of other pictures. In my camera bag
My camera, spare batteries & memory card. I'm afraid I could not cope with separate lenses, I worry about messing things up if I've got extra equipment to cope with. Everything has to be quick & easy to use, or I miss my moment. I really admire the people who plan their pictures, & spend ages working out how to go about it.Feedback
I work purely on instinct. I suddenly see something which I know will make a good picture, or I pan the screen around composing images until I see something that I know will work. I hesitate to give any advice, we all see the world so differently. In this instance I believe I have the rain to thank for a memorable image, so always go out in inclement weather, you never know what you will see.
