Location
This photo was taken in the well known fishing village of Anstruther in Fife, Scotland.Time
This photo is one of my most famous in the online world. I was with a friend on a drive and we thought we'd stop for a 'chippy' as its called in Scotland (a fish supper). We were looking at the sky and thought it wasn't worth staying for, so we got in the car, started the engine and the sky started to turn. Car engine off, shot out the car and got the camera on the tripod. I think this was one of the best nights I've had.Lighting
Seeing as the big boat to the right is called Reaper, I thought this photo had a sort of spooky look to it. The lighting was unusual for a sunset too, so I think this gave it quite an interesting effect.Equipment
This shot was taken on a Nikon D7000, Tokina 11-16MM F/2.8 with a Manfrotto Tripod, and a 10 stop filter.Inspiration
In Scotland good weather is pretty rare at this time of year, however we had a very good day temperature wise (18°C, or 64 F)Editing
When I am processing Landscapes I dont do alot to them. I use Lightroom to brighten or darken shots, and use the Google Nik Collection to reduce Noise and sharpen and also pull detail out in the skies (just a touch!)In my camera bag
I always have my wide angle Tokina 11-16 F/2.8 on my camera if I'm photographing a sunset. This lens always pulls out the drama in the skies, and gives you the smooth look in the water when using filters. Hence the last point, I always have my 10 stop filter in the bag if I'm out in case I see a good long exposure shot. Also take my Manfrotto Be-Free Tripod. Usually if I'm out shooting landscapes I only take this equipment. Does me wonders.Feedback
I would always try a Long Exposure with a 10 stop filter while shooting a sunset and go for about a minutes exposure. It gives the image a beautiful effect, but thats only personal. Also try when shooting landscapes to have your sky only taking up 1/3rd of the image and your landscape its self taking up 2/3, instead of having your sky and landscape half and half.
